ROMANTIC THINGS TO DO IN THE COTSWOLDS
The Cotswolds are the perfect place for a romantic getaway with lots of romantic things to do there too! Here are our recommendations.
The Cotswolds are know for their natural beauty, rolling hills and quaint, picturesque villages. So for these reasons it’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular get aways for couples. Take a look at our list of the most romantic things to do in the Cotswolds. And let us know if you’d like to add in any more!
Blenheim Palace
Home to the Dukes of Marlborough, this sprawling country manor is one fo the only non-royal houses to be called a palace. It is a World Heritage Site with over 300 years of history. You can walk through the rooms and learn about the family who lived there, as well as seeing the incredible art and gilded interiors. So it’s great to visit throughout each season, as they have Halloween events, Christmas festivities and the changing gardens are beautiful at any time of the year.
The Bath Thermae Spa
Technically on the edge of the Cotswolds, Bath is also a great spot to visit while you’re here. The spa is Britain’s only natural thermal spa. And as the Ancient Roman spa town is known for its healing waters, it means it’s a must visit. Bathing in the rooftop pool after sunset is one of the most romantic things to do in the Cotswolds.
Broadway Tower Hill
At the top of the 65 foot tower, you are at the highest point in all of the Cotswolds. So on a clear day you can see for miles around. Then take in the beautiful rolling hills, countryside scenery and catch a glimpse of the red deer from the roof. The famous Capability Brown designed it as an elaborate folly in the 1700s. Inside, it is beautifully decorated with exhibitions which you can visit too.
Seven Springs and Leckhamptop Loop
Take a picnic and go for a romantic walk in scenic countryside. This walk is around 5 miles so is just the perfect length to fit into an afternoon. It’s a mixture of woodland, grassland and historical sites. Print off a map (click the title above to see it) and make sure you pack well for the trip!
Hire a Canoe
Head to Lechland, it’s on the side of the River Thames. You can hire boats here including kayaks as well as the more romantic choice of a canoe boat. Check the weather before you go! Then book in and take a day trip sailing down the river.
