5 course Italian sharing menu
I really love this menu, lots of sharing plates filled with Italian inspired sunshine. This menu is a rolling style, just as if you were sat in a seafront restaurant on the Amalfi coast, the food comes as I finish each plate. Chatter, laughter, sharing, great company, and wonderful food, what more could you want.........
One of my first restaurants I owned was an Italian restaurant in York called Villa Italia. This menu reminds me of those wonderful 9 years. I spent a lot of time back then finding the best ingredients and still today I speak with and buy from Antonio, Maoro, Jean Luca and Thomas, my buyers, to provide me with the best.
We always start with a plate of Bruscetta. The perfect way to wake up your taste buds.
To start.........
Italian soft Burrata cheese, marinated heritage tomatoes, Italian extra virgin olive oil, Italian olive tapenade.
Antipasti meat board - Milano, Napoli, Mortadella, Prosciutto, pickled vegetables and breads. This board is made up of wonderful ingredients to graze on.
Arancini with Arrabiata sauce.
Main courses.......
Crespella Pollo - Soft pancakes filled with wild mushrooms, chicken and thyme sautéed with white wine and cream. Finished with aged Grana Padano cheese.
Whole baked Seabass - Stuffed and baked Seabass, sea herbs.
Risotto alla Milanese, a true classic from Lombardy.
Baked stuffed egg plant, Pomodoro sauce, courgette and parmesan.
Pepperoni Farciti - One of my favourites dishes from my restaurant days. Stuffed and roast sweet red peppers, filled with a flavour packed beef mince mix, baked with Pomodoro sauce and rich cheese béchamel.
Desserts.....
Tiramisu - The history of this dish says it all. Layers of rich mascarpone cheese, espresso soaked cake and rich and bitter chocolate dusting.
Orange and Lavender Polenta cake with orange cream.
Vanilla Panna Cota, berries and biscuits.
The end........
The Italian cheese board. A board of Italian delight. Dolce Latte, Taleggio, and Gorgonzola to name a few. Biscuits, grapes and an Italian inspired chutney finishes your meal off.
