Born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, chef Sohini's food style and recipes are heavily shaped by her childhood in Kolkata, followed by growing up and living in England. She has had the privilege of working with Michelin star chefs, managing operations in Mayfair restaurants and working in local neighbourhood cafes across the UK and in Australia, all of which have designed how she creates and thinks about her own food. She founded Smoke and Lime supper clubs in 2018 from a one-bedroom flat in North London, and the aim was to take the eaters on a journey through her home and memories. American chef Bourdain most inspires her with how he altered food travel and highlighted the true essence of socio-political factors in cuisine. She is also incredibly influenced by Ranveer Brar, who Sohini think speaks her exact food language. When not in the kitchen, Sohini is a compulsive cleaner. She also loves to dance and is a trained classical Bharatanatyam dancer.
